love, love,love the style of the bm dresses and brides dress. that is my first pick of dress style. now all i gotta do is find fabric and an amazing seamstress. anyone know of any in hawaii (oahu)?

Wday MUST Have Post #1: mason jars

This idea is a splurge on a $10,000 wedding budget. But i don't care. I heart mason jars. I plan to also post something on craigslist for other bride to bes'(sp?) to see if they would be interested in purchasing the mason jars I am left with after the reception. Another idea would be to turn them into gifts and send them out to our guests later. However, I feel that would be very costly (shipping wise). Currently I have my eye on Kmarts, 12 mason jars or $9.49. So lets see.... that's 120 guests(roughly)...divided by 12.... that's 10 cases.. multiplied by $9.49... that's gonna cost us $113.88 (no tax).... :)

a reflection of R&R

so i've been thinking of what type of wedding would suite R and I the best off of the little opinions R has shared with me. The opinion that's helped the most is that he wants it to have color. I am also taking into consideration that our budget is $10,000. Which, BTW, I have saved $150 so far. Just $9,850 to go! While I was brainstorming today in the usual Hawaii nei traffic jam I thought about making our wedding a vintage hawaiian wedding (nothing cliche of course), 60's-70's inspired. I figured that would have color, right? It'd be fun, and it could also be less dow-llars. Ideally I'd love it to be both town&country.

Dream Wday location shot down

Ssssooooooo i am very sad that i will not be able to afford to get married at my dream wedding location. i got an email from the onsite wedding coordinator who informed me that a wedding of 100 guests will run around $25,000-$30,000. That's just $15,00-$20,000 more then our budget, which is more then half. That's crazy talk. Damn, i'm so bummed! I was very excited and in love with this place too.

"Your wedding photographer will probably try to convince you to do two hours+ of portraits before the ceremony. He wants you to be able to go straight to the reception after the ceremony, but he also wants to capture the first moment you see each other in your wedding garb without any pesky wedding guests in the way. What you get is those incredibly stagy "first look" photos, where the bride and groom just end up looking like they're posing.

Come on. You're nervous. You're about to get married. And then you're supposed to turn and look at each other and be all lovestruck and amazed while pretending there's not a camera pointing at you?

You're robbing yourself of the (trust me) incredible moment of seeing each other for the first time at the altar. Or the arch or the stump or whatever. And you're robbing your guests of the joy of seeing you see each other for the first time.

For fuck's sake, please just take a little time to do portraits after the ceremony. They'll come out much better because you will be SMILING YOUR ASS OFF. You'll barely notice the camera. (Trust me.)"

great advice. thanks ESB. i've been seeing all these great wedding pics and yes, they are beautiful but some just don't ring true. they look so perfect that they could be mistaken as a magazine photo shoot). i suppose there is nothing wrong with that, BUT, i personally appreciate the candid, off the wall pics more because they are capable of capturing that exact magical moment.

(i'm sure i'll be guilty of some magazine photo shoot pictures too when i get married, he he)
